Corten Steel WW1 War Memorial

Case Study:

DP Structures was commissioned by South Ribble Council to technically design and fabricate a 9m high CORTEN Sculpture, in commemoration of the soldiers that lost their lives in WW1.

This striking memorial is manufactured from Coreten steel and will form a centre piece of the Peace Garden which is to be completed in Summer 2016.

The Project:

The structure was designed by David Palmer of DP Structures from concept drawings by South Ribble Council. The giant steel framework was then fabricated in box section and clad in CORTEN steel that will leave a patina over time. The names of local soldiers of the Leyland and Chorley areas are laser cut into the back skin.

The structure took 8 weeks to manufacture and was erected in October 2015.There was a grand opening of the sculpture by local dignitaries on 11th November 2015 .
